(262 words) “Eugene Onegin” is one of the most famous domestic works. It is included in the school curriculum, therefore, probably, there is no such person who would not know this name. In short, the novel tells the story of a young man named Eugene Onegin. But, probably, many are interested in why the book bears such a name?
There are several reasons. Firstly, all the events unfold around Eugene. The young man is the main character. He is the heir to a great fortune, a young cuticle who constantly attends various balls. A man from boredom came to the village, met Lensky and Larins and greatly influenced their fates.
Secondly, the image of the hero is a “portrait” of young people of that time. In almost everyone then one could find its features. There is also an assumption that the character was written off from a friend of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, Pyotr Yakovlevich Chaadayev. The life story of Eugene really resembles the biography of the philosopher and public figure Chaadayev.
Thirdly, the novel is written in verse. Undoubtedly, in this case everything should be beautiful and harmonious, everything should “caress the ear”. The combination of the name Eugene and the name Onegin really sounds. It does not cut the ear, does not get out of the general background picture. Such a combination is rhythmic and a rhyme is matched to it without any problems. Of course, this was important for the author.
However, the main character, in fact, is Tatyana Larina. In her character, views, behavior, she surpasses Eugene. Perhaps the novel should be called her name. But Pushkin does not do this, despite the fact that Tatyana is his favorite character. Why so? In fact, everything is simple. As mentioned above, Onegin is a collective image of all youth of the 19th century. Alexander Sergeyevich needed to draw public attention to the unenviable participation of bright and smart young people who became “superfluous” due to social ill-being and political stagnation.
