Indifference always gives rise to injustice, anger and cruelty. But can she become criminal? In law, we find confirmation that it can: there are criminal articles for the fact that under certain circumstances a person did not help another to preserve life and health. Doctors are tried for indifference to sick people, the military - for the fact that they hit the civilian population, spit on the Geneva Convention. So indifference in some cases is a real crime.
One of the most striking examples of indifference, which in fact can be equated with a crime, can be called the story of Lena Bessoltseva from the story of the Soviet writer V. Zheleznikov "Scarecrow." The usual bike turned into real persecution, with which the girl heroically dealt with throughout the year. But would bullying be so cruel if there were no indifferent people? After all, not each of Lena’s classmates was an agitator of attacks on her, most of them just indifferently watched everything from the outside, allowing cruelty to occur, it was they who made this “crime” possible, they should be attributed to accomplices of an unlawful act.
Another vivid example when indifference can be equated with a crime is the story of V. Korolenko “Children of the Underground”. People in the city turn a blind eye to how the poor live, they are despised, or, worse, they pretend that they are not at all. Perhaps if someone else showed sympathy for the poor, except for the little boy Vasya, the sad death of Marousi could have been avoided. But the city authorities and the townsfolk are indifferent to everything except their people. They do not care what is happening in the dungeon, outside their homes. This attitude towards fellow citizens on the part of officials is a real crime that must be stopped.
It is easy to condemn killing and treason - it is always done visibly and openly. For indifference they judge less often, because it is not so striking. However, the consequences of indifference are almost worse than the murder itself or betrayal.
