(432 words) There is an opinion that the older generation is always right. On their side experience, authority and even more solid appearance, compared with young people. However, often all these advantages deceive the fathers themselves, and with them a society that unconditionally believes their words. Aged people tend to have a conservative stance, so they often reject what promises change for the better. To prove my claim, I will give examples from the literature.
In the play “The Storm” by A. N. Ostrovsky, Kabanikh and Dika keep all Kalinov in fear and submission, preventing the young from building their own lives. They profess hypocritical and ostentatious morality, believe in the effectiveness of strict measures and do not spare even their household members, insulting and humiliating people. At the same time, they listen with curiosity to the speeches of wanderers and holy fools, believing themselves to be Christians, who have nothing to reproach with. However, their humility immediately ends when it comes to power. Marfa Kabanova tyrannizes her son and daughter-in-law, daughter and the entire nobleman, and Dika - her nephew. Why are they wrong, because the city is in order? No, in Kalinov stagnation in all areas of life, not order. For example, respectable gentlemen do not know where lightning comes from, and, of course, they have no thought about a lightning rod, so any house can burn out overnight. The injustice of the fathers is also confirmed by the Kabanov family tragedy: Katerina takes her own life, Tikhon rebels against a despotic mother, and Varvara runs away from home. Unfortunately, the older generation is mistaken, and the cost of these errors is high.
Another example is presented in the novel by I. S. Turgenev “Fathers and Sons”. Anna Odintsova tells her sad story to guests. Once upon a time, her father squandered the entire state of the family, as a result of which his children were doomed to beggarly existence. It was very difficult to marry without a dowry to a noble woman, and she could not work in tsarist Russia. The ruined master had two daughters, and their situation was hopeless. It was then that the elderly rich man Odintsov made an offer to Anna, and the girl could no longer refuse, because the fate of her sister depended on her complaisance. The tragedy is that marriage was not love, and early disappointment made the heroine a cold and apathetic woman. Unfortunately, not all parents are responsible for their duties. Those who neglect them doom children to many hardships and misfortunes. In this, they are certainly not right.
Thus, fathers, like all people, are not immune from mistakes. But it is more difficult for them to recognize them, because they are older, which means they must know everything and be able to. Therefore, many problems in the world can not be solved, because it is impossible to remove a well-deserved and respected person from work, as adults are "always right." But this is not so, and the above examples prove that conservatism, frivolity and prejudice are inherent in many representatives of the older generation.
