(301 words) “The Captain's Daughter” can be called a fundamental historical work, one of the last written by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. He was interested in the topic of a peasant uprising led by Yemelyan Pugachev. The writer analyzed many sources, questioned the participants in the uprising of those times and created, one might say, the “encyclopedia of Russian life” of the 18th century.
As Pushkin’s biographers testify, at first he wanted to write about a noble robber who, for his own reasons, took the position of a rebel Emelyan Pugachev. Soon, however, the author rejected this idea. He wanted to create memoirs. Therefore, the work turned out to be very serious. It tells about the fate of a young man who expected to meet only provincial boredom in the province, but he met love. Events unfold against the backdrop of the uprising. Every day the main character Pyotr Grinev grows up, becomes wiser. At the end of the work, he is already a real officer. It can be noted how historical events change people's lives.
Pushkin calls the revolt of the Russian people senseless and merciless. There is a great deal of truth to this. In fact, peasants are easily involved in organizing an uprising and cannot be stopped. The “dark” people even believe in impostors and follow them if they infect the rebels with a great idea. The author does not seek to talk only about the positive or only negative qualities of the peasants. He just shares his thoughts and writes down what is happening. He does not ignore either the almost crony relations of the leader and participants in the uprising, or the execution scene. The reader himself can conclude why all this is happening.
What is the reason for such cruelty, which is shown by the rebels? According to Pushkin, serfdom is to blame. Every disenfranchised person has self-esteem and seeks to gain freedom. But the authorities do not even want to think about liberalization of relations. Therefore, the choice of peasants in favor of those who guarantee the attainment of freedom is obvious. Thus, Pugachevschina is nothing more than a product of people's fatigue. The actions of the authorities are catalysts for riot. However, there is probably a way out of this situation. The main thing is to follow the precepts of the father of Petrusha Grinev and protect the honor of your youth. This applies to nobles, and peasants, and raznochintsy.
