His uncle Yinzhuma and his wife come to visit the Chzhurzhensky thousandth Shanypouma and his wife Chacha. Tysyatsky is on a hunt, a stupid servant of Lu-era is sent for him. Uncle asks his nephew not to forget how he, Yinzhuma, helped him in his youth. There is a messenger from the sovereign with the decree: Shanypouma is appointed commander in chief, head of the Supreme Chancellery and receives the highest sign of power - a gold tablet with two tigers. The same tablet, a thousandth insignia, he can pass to any worthy. Uncle asks her for himself. The nephew hesitates, knowing his addiction to wine. But when the wife stands up for her uncle, he gives in. Uncle goes to the border area, where he will guard the Jiashankou outpost.
On the way to the outpost, Inzhuma calls in his native settlement and makes a big feast there. He then says goodbye to his older brother Jin-juma. He puts goodbye wine, but persuades his brother to drink less. They recall the old days when the eldest lived in abundance. Now he is impoverished to the point that he is forced to ask his brother for warm clothes. He promises to take Jinzhuma to him.
Neglect of duty leads Yinzhuma to defeat. They demand him in the capital, but he does not go. Finally, Yinzhumu is delivered in chains to the commander in chief. At first, the old man does not even want to bow to his nephew. When his assistant announces the indictment, and the commander orders the perpetrator to be executed, the old man realizes that his affairs are bad. His pleas for forgiveness, as well as the petitions of his wife and niece, are in vain. Only after learning that the old man recaptured the prisoners captured by the enemy, the commander replaces the execution with a hundred stick strikes. Yinzhuma begs the servant of his nephew Go-era to help him. He takes 60 sticks instead. But the remaining forty strokes the old man barely withstands.
Having fulfilled his duty, the commander with his wife and retinue comes to Yin-zhuma to arrange a feast and alleviate his suffering. The old man does not want to let anyone in, but when he learns that the commander himself has appeared, he opens the door. He expresses his resentment; the nephew explains to his uncle: it was not he who personally punished him, but a gold tablet, that is, he only fulfilled his official duty. This explanation satisfies the old man, and consent is restored.
